CONTEXT AND ORIGIN
幼虫常弯成Ｃ形，乳白色身体配褐色头部。不同金龟子幼虫很相似，不能只凭白色外形定种。
Grubs are typically C-shaped, creamy white, with a brown head. Many scarab grubs look similar; colour alone cannot identify species.
生活史与过程
LIFE CYCLE AND PROCESS
雌成虫把卵产在土中，孵出的幼虫逐步进入根区取食。卵并不排在叶面上，地下阶段需要挖土检查。幼虫长成后在土中化蛹，再羽化成金龟子。本种有卵、幼虫、蛹和成虫四个阶段。根被幼虫取食后，植株吸水与固定能力都会受影响。干旱和根病也会造成弱株，要同时查活虫与根伤。
Females lay eggs in soil; developing grubs feed in the root zone. Do not search leaves for egg masses; inspect below ground. Mature grubs pupate in soil before emerging as beetles. Its life cycle includes egg, larva, pupa and adult. Root feeding can impair water uptake and plant anchorage. Drought and disease also weaken cane; check grubs and root damage.

防控要提前评估，严重倒伏时再处理往往已经太迟。结合田块历史和监测，按当地登记选择适宜措施。不要把一次处理说成永久清除，下一季仍需调查。复查活幼虫、新根和蔗兜稳定程度，比较前后记录。
Plan management early; severe stool tipping may appear too late. Use field history and monitoring to choose locally approved measures. One treatment is not permanent eradication; scout the next crop. Recheck live grubs, new roots and stool stability against earlier records.
